8žije won 25.41% of the vote and 13 assembly seats in the elections. Thank you for the trust with which we entered into negotiations for a new coalition. We offered the Mayors (STAN), TOP 09, and the Pirates a "coalition for change" with a majority of 25 out of 45 assembly seats. To make it happen, we were even prepared to give up the mayoral post. Despite this, the Mayors and TOP 09 preferred to continue their cooperation with ODS and ANO, forming a coalition without us.

From your reactions, we know that this development has brought disappointment to many. There also remain questions to which residents deserve clear answers. The first post-election assembly meeting is an opportunity to ask them directly to those who will be making decisions about our municipal district:

  • Why was this coalition preferred over the offered coalition for change?
  • Which campaign promises will the new leadership fulfill, and how will we know they are keeping them?
  • What specifically will change in tackling the problems that residents have been pointing out for years?

Bring your own questions too. Whether they concern traffic on your street, park maintenance, schools, or how the town hall communicates with you. It is precisely these everyday matters that will show what the post-election agreements mean for life in Prague 8.

Dissatisfaction with the post-election developments was also voiced at a demonstration in front of the Libeň Chateaux on Monday, October 26th. It was organized by citizens themselves, independently of 8žije. As reported by Novinky.cz, besides the emerging coalition, participants pointed out long-term problems with public spaces and expressed their desire for the town hall to listen to them.

We invite you to the assembly meeting for a factual and open debate. Even an uncomfortable question can be asked politely and deserves a specific answer. However, you do not have to speak up. A full hall and an attentive audience also send a clear signal to the assembly members that citizens are watching their work.

We know that Wednesday morning is not an easy time for everyone. The meeting may continue into the afternoon hours, so if you can, stop by for at least part of it. Practical information regarding the agenda, speaking arrangements, and a link to the live stream will be added to the Facebook event before the meeting.

Invite your neighbors and come to the White House on November 11th. The polling stations have closed. The town hall must remain open.
